Lessons On Movies:The Great Gatsby

The official Warner Bros. website says: "The filmmaker created his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before."
It follows the life and times of millionaire Jay Gatsby (played by DiCaprio) and his neighbour Nick, who tells of his encounter with Gatsby in 1920s America. Warner Bros. says, "Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits."

Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland lyrics | LyricsMode.com
Dance, boogie wonderland.
Ha, ha, dance, boogie wonderland
Midnight creeps so slowly
into hearts of men
who need more than they get
Daylight deals a bad hand to a woman
who has laid too many bets
The mirror stares you
in the face and says
Baby, uh, uh, it don't work"
You say your prayers
though you don't care
you dance and shake the hurt
Dance, boogie wonderland.
Ha, ha, dance, boogie wonderland
Sounds fly through the night
I chase my vinyl dreams
to boogie wonderland
I find romance
when I start to dance
in boogie wonderland
I find romance
when I start to dance
in boogie wonderland
All the love in the world can't be gone
All the need to be loved can't be wrong
All the records are playing
and my heart keeps saying
"Boogie wonderland, wonderland"
Dance, boogie wonderland.
Ha, ha, dance, boogie wonderland. Ha, ha
I find romance
when I start to dance
in boogie wonderland
I find romance
when I start to dance
in boogie wonderland
Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away
Ba de ya, say do you remember
Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, never was a cloudy day
My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay
Now December found the love that we shared in September.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today
Ba de ya, say do you remember
Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya, say do you remember
Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, golden dreams were shiny days
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,

Ba de ya, say do you remember

Original Music: Clint Eastwood,Kyle Eastwood (songs "Boxing Baby" and "Blue Diner".
Plot
Frankie, a respectful professional boxing trainer and cut man, runs The Hit Pit, an old-school boxing gym in downtown Los Angeles. He is a religious man who goes to mass every day.Unable to forgive himself for becoming estranged from his daughter long ago, for reasons which are never divulged to the audience, he sends her a letter every week, and the next week the letter always comes back, unopened and marked "Return to Sender". His janitor (a doorkeeper of a buiding) and righthand man, Scrap, is a former boxer who lost an eye in a fight, for which Frankie still blames himsel. Scrap narrates the movie
What interested Eastwood about MILLION DOLLAR BABY was the fact that it was not really about boxing but " a love story about a person who is distressed (cause someone anxiety, sorrow, or pain) about his non-existent relationship with his daughter, and who then finds a sort of surrogate ( a substitute) daughter in this young girl who is dying to make her mark on the world as a boxer". Frankie is searching for redemption.
There is a turning point in the story, when it becomes a father/daughter love story.

Movie: A Bronx Tale
- Country: USA
- Runtime:121
- Genres: Crime, Drama
- Director: Robert De Niro
- Stars: Robert De Niro, Chazz Palminteri, Lillo Brancato
Storyline: Gangster Sonny is the big man in the Bronx neighbourhood of an Italian small boy named Calogero. A shooting witnessed by the boy(nicknamed C) is the starting point of a lasting bond between the gangsters and the boy. Read more in IMBD
It is one of the most moving and powerful films ever seen. It seems to be a simple story about a boy living in The Bronx in the 1960s . It is simple, but full of humanity and beauty. A father , a bus-driver, fighting against the gangsters not to spoil his son and at the same time trying to give him a formal education . A son, too young at that time to see the dangers of the streets, overwhelmed by the new job with the gangster Sonny.
Everything changes when Calogero(C) witnessed the murder of a man committed by Sonny.
This makes the boy be interested in the world of the mafia and especially in Sonny, whom he admires.
The director, Robert De Niro, starts with a great opening sequence, he captures every element of the Bronx in those years. The music is really good.
We can recognize a clear influence of Martin Scorsese: a taste of the elegant framing and camera movements, the excellent use of musisc in some scenes.
The film is not shot in the Bronx, but in Queens(where some buildings kept the style of the 60) and Long Island.
Music of the film: Boby Watson ,Bustalk

Doris Day -¿Qué Será, Será?
Que Será, Será (Whatever Will be,Will be) , first published in 1956 , is a popular song written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans .
The song was introduced in Alfred Hitchcok´s 1956 film The Man Who Knew Too Much with Doris Day and James Stewart.
With this song you can practise the direct and reported speech.
I hope you sing and learn the lyrics almost by heart.
When I was just a little girlI asked my mother, "what will I be?
Will I be pretty? Will i be rich?"
Here's what she said to me:
"¿Qué será, será?,
Whatever will be, will be;
The future's not ours to see.
¿Qué será, será?,
What will be, will be."
When I was just a child in school,
I asked my teacher,
"what will I try?
Should I paint pictures?
Should I sing songs?"
This was her wise reply:
"¿Qué será, será?
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see.
¿Qué será, será?
What will be, will be."
When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart,
"What lies ahead?
Will we have rainbows day after day?"
Here's what my sweetheart said:
"¿Qué será, será?
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see.
¿Qué será, será?
What will be, will be."
Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother,
What will I be?
"Will I be handsome?
Will I be rich?"
I tell them tenderly:
"¿Qué será, será?
Whatever will be, will be.
The future's not ours to see.
¿Qué será, será?
What will be, will be."

Life was a song
You came along
I lay awake the whole night through
If I should dare
To think you care
This is what I'd say to you
You were meant for me
And I was meant for you
Nature fashioned you
And when she was done
You were all those good things
Rolled into one
You're like a plaintive melody
That never lets me be
I'm content the angels must have sent you
And they meant you just for me
You're like a plaintive melody
That never lets me be
I'm content the angels must have sent you
And they meant you just for me
You Were Meant For Me
You were meant for me
I was meant for you!
Nature patterned you, an' when she was done
you were all the sweet things rolled in one!
You're like a plaintive melody
